Let’s delve into the analysis of the “Janggu Teacher” who appears during Jang Noksu’s gisaeng lesson!
Janggo Dance (長鼓舞)
Janggo Dance, also known as Janggu Dance, is a traditional Korean dance!
The janggo dance is performed with the rope of the janggu drum (a type of traditional Korean drum) tied over the shoulder.
The distinctive feature of this dance is the beating of the janggu while dancing to various rhythms of the drum.
The janggo dance seen in the performance is a gibang variation of the janggo dance and focuses on dancing and the rhythm here is customised and modified 🙂
In the story, Jang Noksu enters Gaheungcheong and receives gisaeng lessons through the janggo dance!
And the person who instructs the gisaeng lesson is…..!!
None other than the “Janggu Teacher”!!!
During the performance, the Janggu Teacher’s cute bromance with Prince Je-an can be seen.
Their comic acting and enthusiastic rhythm of the janggu capture the eyes and ears of the audience!
Also, during the gisaeng lesson, the harmony of the janggo dance performed by Jang Noksu, the gisaengs at Gaheungcheong and the Janggu Teacher is nothing but….!!
At times quiet and calm, other times harsh and wild!
Dancing to the rhythm of the janggu, along with Korean-style dance moves!
This dance that captures the eyes and ears of the audience can be regarded as the representative dance of <The Palace: Jang Noksu>!
Seeing once is better than hearing a hundred times!
